Junior Designer

Patterson Flynn creates one-of-a-kind rugs and carpets that exude luxury and fine design. PF currently maintains 9 showrooms across the United States.

The Patterson Flynn Design Studio is excited to add a Junior Designer to our team. This position will report to our Senior Designer and will help in the creation of our collections.


  • Work across categories – rugs, wovens, and trims
  • Construct layouts and put patterns into repeat
  • Be responsible for colorwork
  • Assist with general studio organization, cut color blankets, and send packages as needed
  • Communicate directly with vendors to produce designs
  • Keep track of new developments to ensure they remain on schedule
  • Manage Line Plans for collections, ensuring they are correct and up to date
  • Check final production for approval and then disperse to all relevant departments
  • Research relevant home, fashion, and fine arts categories—to suggest new concepts, color inspiration, designs, and techniques for new collections

Job requirements


  • BFA in Textile Design or related
  • 1-3 years experience in textile design, rug experience is a plus
  • Thorough understanding of handweaving techniques, dobby, and jacquard design
  • Understanding of different fiber types and characteristics
  • Excellent Photoshop and Illustrator skills, experience in AVA is a plus
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Technical expertise in creating repeats, colorways, and color separated files
  • Strong hand painting skills or digital drawing skills
  • A no-task-is-too-small attitude and willingness to pitch in as needed
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently under pressure, multi-task, follow directions, stay organized, and happily execute revisions with a high level of accuracy
